CLG eliminated Splyce after beating their NA brethren 19-16 on Train and 16-10 on Dust2 at DreamHack ZOWIE Open Austin.
The second day in Austin, Texas kicked off with an elimination match between Splyce and CLG as the former lost their opening match to Luminosity while the latter bent the knee to Cloud9 with a 1-16 score.
Splyce had a dynamite start, winning the pistol round with Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir's quad kill and following it up with the anti-ecos on the T-side of Train. The fourth round opened up with three kills by CLG but Jaryd "summit" Lazar and freakazoid clutched a 2vs5 to make it 4-0.
CLG's first round came six round into the half but their economy got reset as they lost the following round. After gaining a 10-2 lead, Splyce lost two more rounds, finishing the half 11-4 ahead.
jdm64 led the comeback on Train
The pistol round of the second half was taken by CLG, who also managed to win the anti-eco rounds. Josh "jdm64" Marzano's triple kill brought them the first weapon round but Splyce answered back two rounds later to make it 12-9. With a 15-11 score, summit killed his opponent in a 1vs1 and had more than enough time to defuse the bomb to close the match but he died because of his own Molotov.
CLG came back after summit's mistake, tying it at 15-15 to take it to overtime. jdm64 & company capitalized on the perfect opportunity and won the first map with a 19-16 final score.
Splyce started on the T-side of Dust2 and won the pistol round but failed to stop an anti-eco victory by CLG. The momentum was on CLG's side and they got a 5-1 lead in the beginning. Tarik "tarik" Celik & company had full control in the first half and had a 11-4 lead at halftime.
Splyce had a promising start to the second half with the pistol and the anti-eco round wins but CLG were the winning side in the fourth round (12-7). jdm64's team won a 3vs4 to extend their lead to 14-7 and they went on to secure the map with a 16-10 score.
